Welcome!

Welcome to 7th grade English! You may want to know how our class time will be used. Almost every week we will spend three days (Monday - Wednesday) on writing workshop and two day on reading workshop (Thursday - Friday). Writing workshop will follow this predictable routine:

5 minutes = students complete warm up while Ms. Burke checks to see who is prepared with their materials and/or homework and take attendance.

10 - 15 minutes = mini-lesson

20 - 25 minutes = silent, independent writing time & conferencing with teacher

5 - 10 minutes = sharing with writing partner

5 minutes = wrap up (review learning objective and/or record homework assignment)
